E35 back 280x300I thought I would enhance my other review by posting my thoughts on the Sole E35 Elliptical Trainer. While both equipments are great elliptical devices, I believe they are two distinct elliptical machines.
The Sole E35 has been rated “Best Buy” by leading consumer websites and has earned the distinctive “The Best Buy” by leading consumer magazines for quality and service. Of course, there are many factors that altogether granted the “Best Buy” value to the Sole E35 and one of the principal factors is its impressive warranty. For $1300 you get an elliptical trainer with 5-years parts and 2-years labor warranty. How cool is that?

Now that you know this bit of information, please proceed to review your new Elliptical Trainer. You will love it and it is waiting for you!

Listening to You…

One of the most important factors that motivates any one of us to buy or to consider buying an Elliptical Trainer machine is the idea of staying in good physical condition. And since I assume that no one is forcing you to stay in good physical shape, I must believe that you were listening to your inner voice that says “I value my body and I want to do something for it”. Welcome to the team, join us!

Your Health Will Thank You …

Having an elliptical trainer will allow you to benefit from both upper- and lower-Body cardiovascular workout. This simply means you will increase your heart and lung capacity while improving your health (and burning calories at the same time).

The Sole E35 Elliptical Trainer provides you with the ability to specifically target the upper body region in case you suffer from injuries in your leg, ankle or knees. Of course, your elliptical trainer can be used as an excellent exercising tool to do lower body cardio workouts, as well.

Technological Innovations

Your elliptical trainer features a heavy 25-pound flywheel that allows you to reach smooth performance and a more consistent workout. The main reason for this stems from the weight of the flywheel. A 25-pound flywheel will allow your elliptical machine to store a substantial amount of mechanical energy that you can use to restart your workout without committing too much effort on your part even after the pedaling action has stopped. This motion is embedded into a whisper quiet drive system that produces little or any noise which makes it quite convenient for workout sessions at your preferred time schedule.

Power Incline Control

This option allows you to change incline level instantly with the simple touch of a button, even while running/walking. Through this feature, the Sole E35 Elliptical Trainer offers additional resistance as well as variable positions for diversity in your workout .The ramp angle is fully adjustable from 0 to 30 degrees, allowing you to individually target and work all major lower body muscle groups. At the same time, it also gives you an increased cardio burn which resembles pretty much hiking up a hill.

A major benefit of the power incline control is that it can help strengthen your calves. And perhaps its main benefit lies in the fact that it can help you burn fat three times faster and 3x more calories. Even though you can incline your elliptical machine up to 30 degrees, an inclination of 10 degrees is probably good enough for most of users to achieve these results, regardless if they are walking or running. As one can probably intuit, higher levels of resistance are for more advanced users.

Console and Display

The E35 Elliptical Machine comes with a luminous 6.5-inch blue LCD display that makes it easy to track your workoutE35 Console progress. The console includes windows that track resistance, time, distance, calories burned, resistance levels and pulse. New for 2011 is a ¼ mile track feature and a peak and valley graph that you can use to visualize your progress. You can also tilt the console for optimum screening based on user’s height.

Through the console’s commands, you can adjust/change the 16 levels of resistance that are included in the E35 Elliptical Trainer. Furthermore, since the moveable handlebars have incline and resistance controls you can make your adjustments quite handy without breaking your stride.

The console also has built in speakers which allow you to hook up any MP3 player (iPod, etc.) for easy listening while also offering built-in cooling fans, and a water bottle holder. Great features for the person who needs/wants to prepare everything before (s)he engages into his elliptical trainer workout.

The Sole E35 Elliptical Trainer comes with 6 standard programs and has the ability to let the user define two additional programs that provide for greater flexibility and personal training customization.

The bigger, the better

From previous reviews, we have learned that the stride length of an elliptical trainer partially determines the comfort level of the workout. As you probably know, most elliptical review sites recommend at least an 18-inch stride length. The Sole E35 Elliptical Trainer has a stride length of 20 inches making it smooth and comfortable. But, is it comfortable for everyone? Not exactly. In general, if you are shorter than 5 feet 3 inches, you will be comfortable with a 16 to 18 inch stride length. If you are between 5 feet 4 inches and 5 feet 7 inches, you should choose an 18 to 21 inch stride length.

Adjustable pedals

In addition to a longer stride, the Sole E35 includes articulating food pedals. The foot beds are adjustable forE35 Adjustable Pedals customized comfort. One can manually customize/change the angle of the pedals. So if the elliptical user has higher feet arches or flat feet, (s)he can make the appropriate adjustment to the angle’s pedals to lessen stress and lack of feeling.

More on Pedals

As we talk further about the pedaling system, we would like to mention Sole E35 Elliptical Trainer’s Eddy Current Brake (ECB) resistance system which provides the user with a reliable and durable braking system that requires little maintenance and, more importantly, will let operate your elliptical machine smoothly and quietly.

The Sole E35 has a bi-directional pedaling system, with forward and reverse motion that will help you reduce fatigue caused by walking the traditional one-directional elliptical in the same posture and movement (it will allow you to train different leg muscle groups evenly, too).

Sole E35 Elliptical: A Front Drive Machine

In the past, there had been considerably controversy over which elliptical trainer is the best: the rear or front drive system. There was a time when there appear to be a consensus indicating that the rear drive was superior but this belief was supported simply by the fact that this system was usually found on the more expensive elliptical trainers like Precor and Life Fitness. But, as we all know now, lately some premium manufacturers have introduced front drive elliptical trainer systems.

So at the end, which one is better? The answer is subjective. It all boils down to the feel of the machine and what one finds most comfortable. An advantage of rear drive elliptical machines is that they have less moving parts. Consequently, you have fewer parts that may require service. On the other hand, most front drive elliptical trainers have foot pedals that run on rails in the rear and the Sole E35 Elliptical Trainer comes with dual wheel rollers which provide a more solid and stable feel.

In conclusion: find a machine that feels best for you. Try both systems, test the different drives, and purchase the best value within your budget.

Heart Rate Programs

The Sole E35’s HR Program consists, at least, of 3 basic components:chest strap 300x229

  • Handgrip: Stationary handle bars have built-in pulse sensors for monitoring your heart rate
  • Chest Strap: A heart rate chest strap is also included for hands free pulse monitoring
  • Telemetry Belt: For some, this element has been fantastic. With the belt on, the users can keep their hands on the arm bars and view a read-out of their pulse without interrupting the workout

Who is this Elliptical Machine designed for?

The Sole E35 has a maximum weight capacity of 375 pounds making it one of the most resistant elliptical machines out in the market.
